With the continuous improvement of technology, ARM microprocessor has achieved great progress also, TI released new generation, high performance ARM Chip----- OMAP35x, based on leading edge ARM® Cortex™-A8 structure, running on high speed (above 1GHz), with a C64x+ digital signal processor (DSP) core which can strongly aid image processing, with SGX subsystem for 2D and 3D graphics acceleration to support display and gaming effects, with one package for several universal hardware interfaces. Such a high performance chip provides a hardware foundation for implementing smaller scale intelligent embedded system. In the meantime, the released software development environment provides strong support to application product development. Besides, the low power consumption feature of OMAP makes it an obvious advantage in portable electronic appliances, up to now many manufactures have released or prepare to release associated products.
ICETEK-OMAP3530-Mini board is open OMAP3530 hardware platform. The design principle is to leverage OMAP3530 with Ti latest ,high performance ARMCortexA8 core to form a compact complete computer system. For a tiny system, we make our best to develop our board just as a sparrow may be small but it has all the vital organs. That we need to emphasis here is this system isn’t dedicated to OMAP3530 capability evaluation, some interfaces OMAP3530 supports are not expanded , but it can serve as a minimum system integrated platform to let user experience OMAO3530 power. Because of the standard interface Mini board used, it is very flexible to connect many kinds of PC standardized devices.
